Description

Crispy, flavorful Air Fryer Chickpeas are a healthy and addictive snack that’s ready in minutes. This simple recipe transforms canned chickpeas into a crunchy, protein-packed treat with endless seasoning possibilities.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 15 ounces canned chickpeas
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chickpeas
Drain and rinse the chickpeas in a colander. Spread them out on a paper towel lined plate and pat dry thoroughly. This step is crucial for achieving maximum crispiness.
  2. Air fry the chickpeas
Place the dried chickpeas in an air fryer basket and set the temperature to 380°F. Cook for 12-14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  3. Season the chickpeas
Remove the chickpeas from the air fryer and transfer them to a mixing bowl. Toss with the olive oil to fully coat. Once evenly coated with oil, add your chosen seasoning and toss again to distribute it evenly.
  4. Serve and enjoy
Allow the chickpeas to cool slightly before serving. They’re best enjoyed immediately while still warm and crispy.

Notes

  • Experiment with different seasoning blends to create various flavor profiles. Popular options include Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, taco seasoning, za’atar, garlic salt, or even a sweet cinnamon-sugar mix.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, but note that they may lose some crispiness over time.
  • For extra crunchiness, remove the skins from the chickpeas before air frying.
