Description

These Berry Patriotic 4th of July Trifles are a delightful and festive dessert perfect for celebrating Independence Day. Layers of ladyfingers, creamy filling, and fresh berries create a patriotic treat that is sure to impress your guests.


Ingredients

Ladyfinger Layer:

  • 8 ladyfinger cookies

Strawberry Layer:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Blueberry Layer:

  • 1 cup blueberries

Cream Layer:

  • 1 8 ounce block of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For serving:

  • 4 9ounce cups OR
  • 4 9ounce mason jars

Instructions

  1. Slice and Prepare Berries: Slice two strawberries lengthwise, hull and slice the remaining strawberries.
  2. Create Cream Layer: In a large bowl, blend softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add milk and vanilla extract, mix until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Assemble Trifles: Layer ladyfingers, cream cheese mixture, strawberries, more ladyfingers, cream cheese mixture, and blueberries in cups or jars. Top each with half a strawberry and extra berries if desired.
  4. Chill: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate if not serving immediately.

Notes

  • Substitute ladyfingers with alternative cakes
  • Use instant pudding mix as an alternative to the cream cheese layer
  • Recipe can be made gluten-free with gluten-free ladyfingers
