Custard and Cream
- 500 ml ready made custard
- 600 ml double cream
- 2 tbsp icing sugar
Fruit and Alcohol Soak
- 4-5 tbsp Kirsch
- 400 g fresh cherries soaked in kirsch (using 200 ml kirsch)
- 100 g fresh cherries
Sponge and Jam
- 300 g chocolate swiss roll or chocolate sponge
- 200 g cherry jam or conserve
Additional Garnish
- 150 g brownie bites
- 10 g grated chocolate
Instructions
- Prepare Cherries: Soak 400 g of fresh cherries in 200 ml Kirsch for several hours or overnight to infuse them with flavor and soften them.
- Chocolate Preparation: Chop 150 g dark chocolate into fine pieces for layering and garnish.
- Whip Cream: In a large bowl, whip 600 ml double cream with 2 tbsp icing sugar until soft peaks form, setting it aside for assembly.
- Cut Sponge: Slice the 300 g chocolate swiss roll or chocolate sponge into even pieces suitable for layering within the trifle.
- Layering the Trifle: Start the assembly by placing a layer of sponge pieces at the bottom of your serving dish, sprinkling with 4-5 tbsp Kirsch for moisture. Spread a layer of cherry jam over the sponge, followed by half of the soaked cherries evenly scattered on top.
- Add Custard: Pour and evenly spread half of the 500 ml ready-made custard over the fruit layer to add creamy richness.
- Insert Brownie Bites: Add 150 g brownie bites into the layers, distributing evenly for texture and chocolate intensity.
- Second Layer: Repeat sponge soaking with Kirsch, then layer on fresh cherries (100 g) and the remaining soaked cherries. Spread the rest of the cherry jam, followed by the remaining custard.
- Add Whipped Cream: Top the trifle with the whipped double cream, smoothing it evenly to cover all layers.
- Garnish and Chill: Sprinkle the 10 g grated chocolate over the whipped cream as a beautiful finishing touch. Refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour (preferably longer) to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
