Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate covered strawberries, perfect for a quick dessert or party treat. Fresh strawberries dipped in smooth melted chocolate and optionally coated with desiccated coconut, crushed nuts, or sprinkles, then chilled until the chocolate firms up.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil (or grapeseed, canola, peanut, or other neutral oil)

Strawberries

  • 500g / 1 lb strawberries (~25 strawberries, depends on size)

Optional Coatings

  • Desiccated coconut
  • Crushed nuts
  • Sprinkles
  • Other coating of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tray: Line a tray with baking paper (parchment paper) to prevent the strawberries from sticking once dipped.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 30-second bursts, stirring thoroughly between each burst until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Dip strawberries: Hold each strawberry by its stem or gather the leaves around the stem to grip securely. Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, rolling it to coat most of the surface evenly.
  4. Add coatings (optional): If desired, immediately after dipping in chocolate, roll the strawberry in desiccated coconut, crushed nuts, sprinkles, or any other coating of your choice, then place it onto the prepared tray.
  5. Chill the strawberries: Refrigerate the tray of dipped strawberries for 30 minutes or until the chocolate sets and becomes firm.
  6. Serve: Best served within 12 hours of making to enjoy the freshest taste and texture.
