Ingredients
Scale
Mascarpone Cream
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream (360 ml)
- 8 ounce container mascarpone cheese, room temperature (225 g)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (67 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
Assembly
- 1 1/2 cups cold espresso, prepared (360 ml)
- 3 Tablespoons coffee flavored liqueur, optional (Kahlua or DaVinci) (45 ml)
- 1 package Lady Fingers (Savoiardi brand)
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Mascarpone Cream: Add heavy whipping cream to a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed using an electric mixer or stand mixer. Gradually add granulated sugar and vanilla extract while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the room temperature mascarpone cheese until smooth and combined. Set aside.
- Dip the Lady Fingers: Combine cold espresso and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow bowl. Quickly dip each lady finger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them—just a quick dip on each side to moisten.
- Layer the First Layer: Arrange a single layer of dipped lady fingers on the bottom of an 8×8 inch or similarly sized pan, ensuring they fit snugly.
- Add Half of the Mascarpone Mixture: Smooth half of the prepared mascarpone cream over the layer of lady fingers evenly.
- Add Second Layer of Lady Fingers: Dip another batch of lady fingers briefly in the coffee mixture and place them over the mascarpone cream layer.
- Top with Remaining Cream: Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture smoothly over the second layer of lady fingers.
- Dust with Cocoa Powder: Use a fine mesh strainer to generously dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 3-4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set before serving.
Notes
- This tiramisu has a creamy texture and rich coffee flavor with no baking required.
- For best results, use freshly brewed espresso and good quality mascarpone cheese.
- The coffee liqueur is optional but adds an authentic depth of flavor.
- Do not soak the lady fingers too long or they will become soggy and fall apart.
- Chilling for several hours or overnight enhances the flavor and texture dramatically.
