- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs (can use regular or panko)
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon melted salted butter
Main Dish
- 12 ounce bag egg noodles
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 10.5 ounce can cream of mushroom soup
- 10.5 ounce can cream of chicken soup
- 2 (5 ounce) cans of tuna (preferably packed in water)
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream (or mayonnaise)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional, plus more for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 400° F and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Breadcrumb Topping: In a bowl, combine 1/3 cup breadcrumbs, 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese, and 1 tablespoon melted salted butter. Stir until the mixture is well combined and set aside to top the casserole later.
- Cook Noodles: Cook the 12-ounce bag of egg noodles according to package instructions, typically about 5-7 minutes until al dente. Drain the noodles well and transfer them to the prepared baking dish.
- Mix Casserole Ingredients: Add to the baking dish the milk, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, tuna, frozen peas, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream (or mayonnaise), dried parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and kosher salt. Stir everything together until evenly combined. Alternatively, you can mix all ingredients, including noodles, in a large bowl, then pour into the baking dish.
- Add Breadcrumb Topping: Sprinkle the breadcrumb and parmesan mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Bake: Bake uncovered for about 15 minutes, or until the edges are bubbling and the casserole is heated through.
- Broil for Crispness: Turn the oven to broil on high and carefully broil the casserole for about 1 minute to brown the topping. Watch closely to ensure the breadcrumbs become a golden brown without burning.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and optionally sprinkle more dried parsley flakes on top before serving.
