Description

Tender and juicy honey Dijon garlic chicken breasts baked to perfection, featuring a flavorful glaze of honey, Dijon mustard, and garlic. This easy, oven-baked recipe results in a sweet and savory dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The chicken remains moist while the glaze creates a deliciously sticky coating that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Chicken

  • 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper

For the Glaze

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp whole grain Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil, ensuring enough space around each chicken breast. Place the pan in a 425°F oven to heat up while preparing the glaze.
  2. Make the Glaze: Melt the butter in a small sauté pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30-60 seconds until softened, avoiding browning. Stir in honey, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until the glaze begins to thicken.
  3. Season the Chicken: Lightly season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Arrange in Pan: Carefully remove the hot pan from the oven and place the chicken breasts evenly apart in the pan.
  5. Apply the Glaze: Pour the warm glaze evenly over the chicken breasts.
  6. Bake: Return the pan to the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Then, baste the chicken with the pan juices, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part reaches 170°F.
  7. Rest & Serve: Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving for maximum juiciness.

Notes

  • Ensure the oven is preheated to achieve even cooking and a good glaze consistency.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness for perfect results.
  • Serve the chicken with rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
  • You can adjust the honey to control sweetness or add a pinch of chili flakes for heat.
