Description

This Crock Pot Apple Dump Cake is an easy and comforting dessert perfect for fall or any time you crave a sweet, fruity treat. With simple ingredients like apple pie filling, apple cinnamon muffin mix, and butter, you can effortlessly create a warm, tender cake with minimal prep. Using a slow cooker makes this recipe hands-off and ideal for busy days or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 (21 ounce) cans apple pie filling (can use sugar free)
  • 2 (7 ounce) packets Martha White Apple Cinnamon muffin mix (or your favorite brand)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted (or cut into slices)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker: Lightly spray a 4-6 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Add apple pie filling: Pour the two cans of apple pie filling evenly into the bottom of the slow cooker, spreading it out as best as you can for an even base layer.
  3. Sprinkle muffin mix: Evenly sprinkle the two packets of apple cinnamon muffin mix on top of the apple pie filling. This dry layer forms the cake topping.
  4. Add butter: Pour half a cup (1 stick) of melted salted butter over the muffin mix layer. The butter won’t cover all the dry mix completely, but it will help moisten and bake the topping. Alternatively, you can cut the butter into slices and distribute evenly over the muffin mix.
  5. Cook: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on the low setting for 3 to 5 hours, or until the muffin mix is fully cooked through and the apple pie filling is bubbly and hot.
  6. Serve: Once done, carefully remove the lid and serve the dump cake warm directly from the slow cooker. Enjoy as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.

Notes

  • You can use sugar-free apple pie filling to reduce sugar content.
  • Adjust cooking time slightly depending on your slow cooker model; check around 3 hours for doneness.
  • Butter can be melted or sliced for different textures in the topping.
  • This recipe serves about 6 people.
  • Be cautious when removing the lid to avoid steam burns.
