For the Hamburgers
- 2 pounds 85% lean ground beef
- 4 small ciabatta or sourdough rolls, halved
- 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 8 tablespoons butter, divided
- 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), ensuring the baking rack is set in the middle position for even heat circulation.
- Prepare the Baking Sheet – Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Arrange the ciabatta or sourdough rolls cut-side up on the baking sheet. Set aside while you prepare the patties.
- Shape the Burger Patties – Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions, about 1/4 pound each. Take one portion and smash it flat, then place it onto a roll half. Shape the patty to the edges of the roll for an even fit. Repeat the process with the remaining beef portions and rolls.
- Season and Top the Patties – Drizzle 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce over each patty. Season each with garlic salt, freshly ground black pepper, and onion powder. Place one pat of butter (about 1 tablespoon) on top of each patty, which will add juiciness and flavor.
- Bake the Burgers – Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. The burgers will cook thoroughly and remain juicy as the butter melts over the meat.
- Add Cheese and Finish Baking – Remove the burgers from the oven and place a slice of medium cheddar cheese on each patty. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve – Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Serve the baked hamburgers immediately, optionally with your favorite toppings and condiments.
Notes
- If you prefer your hamburgers well-done, bake them a couple of minutes longer before adding the cheese.
- Try different cheeses or rolls to customize flavor.
- Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, or sauces of your choice for extra taste.
- Using foil makes cleanup easy and prevents sticking.
