The recipe allows for customizable sweetness and tang, ensuring everyone can enjoy their perfect glass of cherry lemonade.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Fruit Base

  • 3 cups thawed whole, pitted cherries (about 2 (12 oz) bags of frozen dark pitted cherries, thawed)

Lemonade Mix

  • 11 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (from about 7-8 large lemons)
  • 9 cups purified water, divided
  • 2 cups granulated sugar

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh mint sprigs
  • Fresh cherries
  • Lemon slices

Instructions

  1. Blend the Cherries: Place the thawed cherries, along with any juice from the bag, into a blender and blend until completely pureed.
  2. Strain the Cherry Puree: Double strain the blended cherries using a fine mesh sieve or juicing bag to remove the pulp. After straining, you should have about 1 cup of fresh cherry juice.
  3. Combine Juice and Sugar: Pour the cherry juice into a large pitcher. Heat 2 cups of the purified water and add it to the pitcher with the sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Add Lemon Juice and Water: Add the fresh lemon juice to the pitcher. Gradually stir in the remaining cold water, tasting after each addition until the desired sweetness and flavor are achieved. Adjust lemon juice and water to taste.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the cherry lemonade for at least 30 minutes before serving, as the mixture may settle. Stir well before pouring over ice.
  6. Garnish: If desired, garnish each glass with fresh mint, cherries, or lemon slices for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • If you prefer a stronger lemon flavor, increase the lemon juice and reduce the amount of water accordingly.
  • Stir the lemonade before serving, as it may settle during chilling.
  • Add garnishes for enhanced flavor and visual appeal.
  • Adjust the sugar and water for your preferred sweetness.
