Cupcakes
- 15.25-ounce box red velvet cake mix
- Ingredients listed on the back of the box (water, oil, eggs)
Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Neon green gel food coloring
- 24 jumbo heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the Cupcake Batter
Follow the directions on the back of the red velvet cake mix box. Combine the cake mix with the required amounts of water, oil, and eggs, and mix until smooth. - Fill the Liners
Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the box. Line your cupcake tin with liners and fill each about 2/3 full with the batter to avoid overflow. - Bake and Cool
Bake the cupcakes according to the timing on the cake mix box, usually 18–22 minutes. Once baked, transfer them to a wire rack and let them cool completely before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting. - Make the Frosting
In a mixing bowl, beat the room-temperature butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Add the neon green gel food coloring, a little at a time, until the desired color is achieved. Mix until smooth and well combined. - Frost the Cupcakes
Use a piping bag fitted with a 1M star tip to pipe swirls of frosting onto each cooled cupcake. The 1M tip gives a fun, swirled look that matches the whimsical Grinch theme. - Decorate with Heart Sprinkles
Top each frosted cupcake with one jumbo heart sprinkle for a signature Grinch-inspired finishing touch. - Customize If Desired
You can get creative with additional decorations that fit your Grinchmas theme, such as holiday-themed sprinkles or edible glitter.
Notes
- Always use gel food coloring for vibrant colors without altering the frosting consistency.
- Ensure butter is at room temperature before starting the frosting for a smoother texture.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool thoroughly on a wire rack before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
- Customize decorations as desired for a personal touch.
- Don’t fill cupcake liners more than 2/3 full to avoid spillage during baking.
