Description

This French Dip Biscuit Bake is the ultimate comfort food mashup that combines buttery biscuits, flavorful roast beef, and melted provolone cheese. Perfectly golden and bubbly, this dish is easy to assemble and makes for a mouthwatering main-course dinner that will impress the whole family. Pair it with au jus for dipping and enjoy a simple yet hearty meal that’s sure to become a new favorite!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Biscuits:

  • 16 oz. can Pillsbury biscuit dough
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

For the Filling:

  • 1 1/2 lbs. Hormel beef roast (shredded and heated in au jus)
  • 8 oz. provolone cheese slices

Instructions

  1. Heat the Beef
Add the Hormel beef roast to a crockpot set to high to heat the shredded beef along with the au jus. Let it warm up while preparing the other components of the recipe.
  2. Prepare the Butter Mixture
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix the melted butter and garlic powder in a small bowl with a pastry brush. This mixture will add a flavorful touch to the biscuits. Set aside for now.
  3. Bake the Biscuits
Place the Pillsbury biscuit dough evenly spaced in a 9×13-inch baking tray. Brush each biscuit generously with the garlic butter mixture. Bake in the preheated oven until the biscuits are golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Sandwiches
Once the biscuits are baked, carefully cut each one in half with a paring knife. Layer the bottom halves with the shredded beef and top with 6 slices of provolone cheese, spread evenly.
  5. Melt the Cheese
Return the baking tray to the oven and bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden. This takes about 3–5 minutes, so keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking.
  6. Finish and Serve
Place the biscuit tops over the filling to complete the sandwiches. Serve warm with the au jus from the crockpot for dipping, and enjoy!

Notes

  • To save time, preheat the crockpot with the beef roast and au jus while gathering the rest of your ingredients.
  • For a cheesier bite, you could double the amount of provolone or try using a blend of cheeses like mozzarella and gruyere.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with a fresh green salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • If you don’t have Pillsbury biscuits, you can use any brand of canned biscuit dough or even make your own biscuits from scratch.
