Scale
For the Pizza
- 1 lb. pizza dough, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, whole milk/low moisture, shredded
- 1/2 cup sliced or diced cooked ham (3-4 oz.)
- 8 oz. pineapple chunks, drained
- 4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
For the Garlic Butter Parmesan Crust
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
To Garnish
- Red pepper flakes
- Parsley, chopped
- Oregano
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450° F. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven as it preheats for even cooking and a crispier crust.
- Prepare Pineapple: Slice each pineapple chunk into 2 thinner slices. Place the slices between paper towels and press gently to absorb excess moisture; this prevents the pizza from becoming soggy.
- Shape Pizza Dough: On a lightly floured surface, stretch and spread the pizza dough into an even 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or your pizza stone. Use a fork to poke holes across the surface to prevent bubbling.
- Assemble Pizza: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Evenly distribute the ham, pineapple slices, and crumbled bacon on top of the cheese.
- Bake Pizza: Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 13 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is mostly cooked.
- Add Garlic Butter Parmesan Crust: Meanwhile, combine the melted butter, grated Parmesan, and garlic powder. Remove the pizza from the oven and brush this mixture over the exposed crust.
- Brown the Crust: Return the pizza to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle with red pepper flakes, chopped parsley, and oregano as desired. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
Notes
- You can use store-bought refrigerated pizza dough for convenience or homemade pizza dough.
- Use low moisture whole milk mozzarella, shredded from a block, for perfect melt—avoid fresh mozzarella as it is too wet.
- Try half pizza sauce and half BBQ sauce for a smoky tang, if desired.
- Ham or Canadian bacon work well; this is also an excellent way to use leftover ham.
- Be sure to thoroughly dry pineapple chunks to prevent extra moisture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
- To reheat, place pizza on a rimmed baking sheet, cover loosely with foil, and bake at 275°F for 25-30 minutes to maintain texture.
