Description

Peanut Butter Crackers are crispy, homemade snacks made with a blend of whole wheat and all-purpose flours, creamy peanut butter, and a touch of sesame seeds. Perfect for snacking, they’re easy to bake and offer a nutty, wholesome flavor without additives or preservatives.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Dry Ingredients

    • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
    • 2/3 cup all purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

    • 3 tablespoons peanut butter (smooth and creamy)
    • 5 tablespoons water (*See notes for adjusting consistency)
    • 1 teaspoon peanut oil (to brush on crackers)

Optional Topping

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, salt, and baking powder until they are combined. Form a well in the center and add the peanut butter and water. Stir until a thick dough forms, then use your hands to shape it into a ball.
  2. Knead and Chill: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured kitchen surface and knead several times until smooth. Shape it into a rectangle, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an hour to allow it to firm up.
  3. Preheat Oven and Prep Pan: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside for the crackers.
  4. Roll Out and Cut the Dough: Remove the chilled dough from the refrigerator. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it into a large rectangle, about 12 inches by 1/16 inch thick. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 8 rows by 6 rows, making 48 crackers.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Prick each cracker with a fork. Brush a small amount of peanut oil onto the surface and, if desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  6. Bake Crackers: Bake the crackers for 13–15 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on the tray before transferring to storage.

Notes

  • If the dough is too thick, add an extra tablespoon of water to bind it.
  • Store crackers at room temperature, covered, for up to 4 weeks.
  • For longer storage, freeze in a ziplock bag for up to 2 months.
  • Optional: Add sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.
