Apples
- 2 lbs (900 grams) sweet, firm apples such as Gala, Fuji, Cortland, Ambrosia, or McIntosh
Other Ingredients
- 10 cups water
- 2 Tbsp (25 grams) brown sugar
- 4-inch (55 grams) ginger
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 tsp black peppercorns
Instructions
- Chop apples: Wash, quarter, and core the apples.
- Instant Pot directions: Add apples, ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, peppercorns, and water. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Release steam manually.
- Stovetop directions: Combine apples, ginger, brown sugar, peppercorns, and water in a stockpot. Simmer covered until apples are soft, then steep for 10 minutes off heat.
- Transfer to a pitcher: Strain the mixture into a pitcher, pressing the apples gently.
- Cool: Let the tea cool completely at room temperature.
- Enjoy: Serve hot or cold.
