Description

Million Dollar Dip is a rich, creamy, and indulgent appetizer that combines the savory flavors of bacon, cheddar cheese, and toasted almonds with a smooth cream cheese base. This crowd-pleasing dip is perfect for parties, game days, or any gathering where you want to impress your guests with a delicious and easy-to-make snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted and chopped (90g)
  • 1 (8-ounce/226g) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (210g)
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese, grated (226g)
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked until crisp, finely chopped (40g)
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise with a rubber or silicone spatula and mix well to combine. (It’s ok if the mixture is not entirely smooth.)
  2. Add the ingredients: Fold in the chopped almonds, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, green onions, garlic powder, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  3. Chill: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the dip to an airtight container. Refrigerate for 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up slightly.
  4. Serve: Top with a few more sliced scallions for garnish. Serve with buttery crackers, toasted baguette slices, and/or fresh-cut vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Use brick-style cream cheese, not the spreadable kind that comes in a tub.
  • Set the cream cheese out at room temperature in advance to soften.
  • To quickly soften cream cheese, cut it into small cubes and let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.
  • You can use a hand mixer to combine the cream cheese and mayonnaise, but fold in the remaining ingredients by hand for the best texture.
  • To toast almonds, place them in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently for 5-7 minutes until lightly browned and fragrant.
