- 1 cup unsalted butter, just barely softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup M&Ms, plus more for tops if desired
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using a mixer. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until combined.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined. Fold in M&Ms. Chill dough for 15-60 minutes (or up to 24 hours) if time allows.
- Scoop Dough: Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets using a cookie scoop, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Add extra M&Ms on top if desired.
- Bake: Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
- To freeze leftover dough, form it into balls and freeze on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag. Thaw dough balls for 30 minutes before baking.
