This homemade Pizza Sauce is quick and easy to make with simple ingredients. It’s far tastier than store-bought and perfect for your next pizza night!

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion (or 3 shallots), grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 ounces tomato paste (1 can)
- 15 ounces tomato sauce (1 can)
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
- 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add grated onion and cook until it begins to brown. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Simmer the Sauce: Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a bubble, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until thickened.
Notes
- This recipe yields about 2 cups of pizza sauce.
- Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Thaw frozen sauce overnight in the refrigerator.
- Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
