Description

This homemade Pizza Sauce is quick and easy to make with simple ingredients. It’s far tastier than store-bought and perfect for your next pizza night!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion (or 3 shallots), grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 ounces tomato paste (1 can)
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce (1 can)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onion and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add grated onion and cook until it begins to brown. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Simmer the Sauce: Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a bubble, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until thickened.
