- 1 (9 oz) package oyster crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spread Crackers: Pour oyster crackers onto the prepared baking sheet and spread in an even layer.
- Make Caramel: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until dissolved.
- Cook Caramel: Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until thickened and slightly lighter in color.
- Coat Crackers: Remove from heat and immediately pour caramel over crackers. Fold and toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake: Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly and golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Cool and Serve: Allow crackers to cool completely on the baking sheet. Break into bite-sized clusters and store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Use fresh oyster crackers for the best results.
- For a less sweet cracker bite, reduce the amount of brown sugar.
- If the caramel is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water to thin it out.
- Be careful not to overbake the crackers, or they will become too hard.
- Store cracker bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
