Description

These Salted Caramel Cracker Bites are a sweet and salty snack that’s both easy and addictive. Buttery oyster crackers are coated in a homemade caramel sauce and sprinkled with sea salt for a delicious treat.

  • 1 (9 oz) package oyster crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Spread Crackers: Pour oyster crackers onto the prepared baking sheet and spread in an even layer.
  3. Make Caramel: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until dissolved.
  4. Cook Caramel: Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until thickened and slightly lighter in color.
  5. Coat Crackers: Remove from heat and immediately pour caramel over crackers. Fold and toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle with sea salt.
  6. Bake: Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly and golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow crackers to cool completely on the baking sheet. Break into bite-sized clusters and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use fresh oyster crackers for the best results.
  • For a less sweet cracker bite, reduce the amount of brown sugar.
  • If the caramel is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water to thin it out.
  • Be careful not to overbake the crackers, or they will become too hard.
