Optimized Description: These Turkey Bites are a delicious and fun way to use leftover turkey. With a soft, homemade dough and a flavorful turkey filling, these bite-sized snacks are perfect for parties, game day, or a satisfying lunch.

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 2/3 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • 1 1/4 pound cooked turkey breast, shredded
  • 1/2 cup unsalted sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded Asiago cheese
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped

Other:

  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: Combine water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit until yeast bubbles.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together eggs and melted butter.
  3. Make Dough: In a mixer bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the egg mixture and yeast mixture. Using the paddle attachment, mix until well combined. The dough will be soft.
  4. Let Dough Rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare Filling: While dough rises, combine all filling ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  6. Assemble: Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out dough into a 16×16-inch square. Cut into 4 strips. Divide filling into 4 portions and spread along each strip. Pinch edges together to form rolls. Cut each roll into 1-inch pieces.
  7. Bake: Place pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Turkey Substitute: Use rotisserie chicken or cooked ham instead of turkey.
  • Spice Level: Adjust hot sauce and chili garlic sauce to your preference.
  • Freezer-Friendly: Bake, cool, and freeze for later. Reheat in the oven.
  • Dough Consistency: Adjust flour or water if the dough is too sticky or dry.
  • Serving Suggestion: Serve warm with dipping sauces like ranch or honey mustard.
